The Royal Winter Fair

It was a long, long day. I left at 8:30 in the morning and got home a little before ten at night. Yuck!! The first set are gesture drawings, so under five minutes. The next set are studies that took closer to fifteen.

Character Design

A pose sheet for my character design class. We named him Fish- who does that?

Hands and Feet

Life drawing assignment. I ended up with fifteen of each, but we only needed twelve so I was able to cut the less successful ones. :)

School Stuff!

I've got to upload something! I feel so lazy. *__*

This was a painting exercise for class, only I really didn't like how the painting turned out- it was very hard to control the gradients the way I wanted so I remade it on illustrator.

Another little assignment for class. Turns out gouache is much easier to use when you aren't painting stupid gradients. :)

I love Doctor Who. And I love Alphonse Mucha and his glorious art. Hence this lovely shirt I designed.

I actually did this a while back, but I'm currently working on a very similar one for the eleventh doctor, so I thought I'd share. :) Below is a larger version with the original colors. Sadly, redbubble prints them a bit darker. Can't be helped.

My Self Imposed Do-Something-Productive Challenge

I really want to improve my art all around, and thought it might be fun to challenge myself to paint one face each day on photoshop (with a focus on identifying values and realism). So for about five days I took a few hours to paint- turns out once you learn how to use the tools it gets pretty easy!

I've listed them in the order I painted them. Snape isn't quite where I would like to finish him- I'll probably go back and fix him later, but anyway- I think there is an obvious improvement from first to last. I learned it's easier to work with high contrast images, and to use soft brushes for the majority of skin, and hard brushes on fine small details. I also learned that it is much easier to paint using only blank, white, and one midway grey, and mess with their transparencies rather than trying to match every shade.

So yeah, I think I've achieved something here. I'm quite pleased with my progress. : )

An unfinished sketch of my darling Fredurick, isn't he lovely? <3
